If I were a Knight, my oily eyelids would be the dragon. Beautiful eyeshadows are, of course, the princesses, and Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer would be the sword upon which I slay the dragon and my killer eyeshadow looks.
Guys, I have had the worst experiences with eyeshadow primers, they just are not built to handle my lids, and I’m serious when I say that Smashbox 24 hour eyeshadow primer ($21) is the best of the best. While my past favorite primers could increase my eyeshadow’s life by maybe a couple of hours, Photo Finish gives me closer to 8-10 hours. Which for me, is unprecedented. And yeah, I know, 8-10ish hours is a far cry from 24, but for those of you with eyelids that are not competing with the middle east to produce oil, if it works that well for me, it’ll just be that much more incredible for you. And if you’re an oily lid gal, welcome, I understand your struggle darling, let me lead you into the promised land of shadows that don’t smear and wipe off faster than you can say Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer.
The Down and Dirty on an Eyeshadow Primer that Might as Well be Cement
The primer will set you back $21 for .41 oz. (Pretty average for high-end primers, Urban Decay’s Primer Potion is $24 for .33 oz, Too Faced Shadow Insurance is $20 for .35 oz and Nars Smudge Proof is $26 for .26 oz) It’s also cruelty-free and formulated without Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Phthalates & Fragrance. Smashbox’s instructions say to apply a thin layer over bare lids and to wait 60 seconds before laying down eyeshadow for a smoother, more vibrant and WAY longer lasting finish.
The Scoring 9/10
This one is simple, Photo Finish Shadow Primer is the best primer I’ve ever used. It’s the best. I love it and appreciate it, and value it like a precious family heirloom (or possibly way more). The only reason I resist giving it the full 10/10 is just me being picky, they say 24 hours, bold claim. It probably is true for most wearers but due to my lid’s craziness with oil, it just doesn’t make that full day and night cut. So for the perfect score, I’d technically like it to fulfil every claim, ya know? Am I being too much? Probably, but that’s ok. This primer is the bomb, it really is. I’m so glad I found it, whether it’s karma or the universe blessing me, I’m as thankful as a kid at Thanksgiving when finally allowed to gorge themselves on dinner and oh, that pie. Give it now.
I’m going to skip the pros and cons, there just aren’t any cons and as far as tips go, use it, honey. You’ll have the best eyeshadow of your life and you’ll be floored over how long it lasts. So go forth and slay those shadow looks like never before.
