Revlon’s New PhotoReady Candid Line Works Like a Skin-Blurring Snapchat Filter

I hate foundation. I dread testing them. I feel like, for the majority of the time, foundations seem to bring out the absolute worst in my skin. It's like, hello texture, didn't know you were there that intensely. Hello oiliness, you're looking extra shiny today. Hello fine lines, blemishes and all the other things foundation is supposed to cover and smooth.

All this to say, I'm not a foundation type of gal. If I'm going to wear one, then it's the exception. It's a rare gem. I will not accept anything less than absolute per-freaking-fection when it comes to face-base products.

And now, it is my pleasure to introduce one such a product. (And its accompanying line of fabulosity).

The Foundation

This foundation is so lightweight; I started calling it feather foundation. You will not notice it's there, whatsoever. It's medium coverage. You can definitely build up into full coverage, and the most significant thing is no matter how much you apply, it's still light as -you guessed it-a feather.

The foundation does everything you would want, covers redness, blemishes, other discoloration. Smoothes texture and fills fine lines without settling. It blends beautifully onto the skin, it does not sink into pores and enlarge them, nor does it just lay awkwardly on top of your skin.

It's the perfect foundation for when you want killer coverage, but a lightweight feel. Seriously, once it's on, you will forget you've ever wearing foundation!

And as if it couldn't get any better, Revlon says it has moisturizing ingredients that will last throughout the day, plus it has anti-pollution, antioxidant, and anti-blue-light ingredients to protect your skin. It comes in 31 shades and does not have any oils, parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes or harsh fragrances.

Now since we covered how incredible the PhotoReady Candid foundation is, let's talk about her crew: the PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer and the Anti-pollution Setting Powder.

The Concealer

I love this concealer. I adore how beautiful it makes your skin look, how it's light as air, how it covers without making it obvious you're trying to cover something up. (No cakiness or creasing and cracking). It's the invisible concealer guys. Much like the foundation, no matter how much you layer on, it's still light as a feather. You can build coverage perfectly, whether you're covering dark circles or just adding a little highlight and definition to other areas of the face.

The Candid concealer also does not need a heavy setting of powder which is nice, especially if your skin is dry or for days when you want a more natural, less bulky look. I also really like the smaller, pointed doe-foot applicator. It makes it easy for precision coverage that's still buildable.

Revlon says that the concealer has caffeine to help wake up tired skin, antioxidants, anti-pollution and anti-blue-light ingredients. And it does not have oils, parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes or harsh fragrances.

The Setting Powder

I call this powder, Mr Airbrush. It has this beautiful softening, filter-like effect that smoothes over textures and imperfections while adding this kind of candle-lit effect to the skin. It makes your skin look natural, but perfected. It's not overly mattifying whatsoever. It does keep excess oil at bay though. It does not settle into fine lines or pores at all; in fact, it adds a beautiful blurring effect that minimizes them just like a Snapchat filter!

As with the rest of the Candid crew, the anti-pollution setting powder has antioxidants and anti-pollution ingredients, to help fight ageing and does not have any parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes, or harsh fragrances. It comes in three shades that give just a hint of color, and I mean a HINT, it will still look translucent on your skin. The little bit of color only adds to the blurring effect.

That concludes the review of the Candid Foundation and its fabulous crew. These products are truly incredible. They are a true testament to how good drugstore products are becoming. In fact, I've been using these instead of my favorite high-end base products! I just love how lightweight they all are, and that powder is insane. It definitely smoothes and blurs more than traditional powders. The only thing I could compare it to is the Veil powder by Hourglass.

So if you're looking for coverage without the cakey weight, and a soft blurring effect that works like a Snapchat filter, go check out the Candid line by Revlon.
