Review: Tan-Luxe Illuminating Self Tan Drops

You look so tan!

The compliment we all want to hear, but don’t want the harmful UV-related consequences that come with it.

So what do we do when we want a tan that slays pale, sickly looking dragons? We go to the land of fake tans. Personally, I think Spray Tans– WHEN and ONLY when done right are where it’s at. However, when you don’t wanna get naked and pay $70-100+ for a faux tan, check out the do-it-yourself products.

I’m gonna help you out here, skip the drugstore and the targets of the world and go to a place that sells you Tan-Luxe products. (I got mine at Sephora).

Now we’re gonna slam on the breaks and get a lil whiplash here real quick because I need to be clear: I am talking about FACE TANNING PRODUCTS ONLY. Sorry for the all caps, but I take my tanning very seriously and trust me, face and body products are such broad categories when it comes to tanning, so they each DESERVE and NEED to have their own separate posts.

So for face tanning, look no further than Tan Luxe and here’s why: it’s easy, it’s not smelly (hello nasty self-tan smells of social embarrassment doom), and it’s GOOD for your skin.

Idk about you, but I am NOT about to put a tanner on my face that is damaging, like hello, if I wanted damage, I’d just go out and fry myself in the sun.

If it goes on the face, it better be hella (ew, did I just say that?) good stuff.

And Tan-Luxe is, it’s got raspberry seed oil, aloe vera and vitamin E which are all super nourishing and awesome, but here’s the best part. This product doesn’t require that you use it as a stand-in for your regular moisturizer. Tan Luxe Illuminating Drops are made to blend perfectly into your moisturizing products, be it cream, oil or serum-based! So you get the perfect tan and don’t have to cheat on your moisturizing routine, and in fact, it makes your routine even better with all the skin nourishing ingredients it’s packed with.

I have used it solo when I was first testing it out and when I did, I definitely felt the nourishing effects, my skin felt so soft and smooth the next day. (I like to use Tan Luxe right before bed to let the tan develop overnight). I found that I like it more when I mix it with my moisturizers though because, for one, I know I’m getting all the benefits of my kick-ass moisturizing routine and for two, this method really helps you get a good blended and natural looking tan.

If you’re gonna go just straight solo and use the drops alone, you need to watch out because this stuff is powerful. A little goes a long way, and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit there were one or two mornings at the beginning of my testing where I woke up on the Oompa Loompa side of the tan spectrum. But even then, a little foundation on and it evened right out and still looked great. And that is why I’m giving this spectacular little piece of witchcraft, a 9/10. You just can’t go wrong (unless you get heavy-handed, but what doesn’t get crazy with a heavy hand anyways)! It’s super easy to use, it has amazing results (the best I’ve ever experienced with self-tanner for the face and real talk, I try just about everything that comes to market). And, most importantly, it’s good for your skin. Boom. ALL other self-tanning face products-(that I have tried so far)…ROASTED.

Go get your glow on.
